Hi friends 👋🏾
Hope you’re well. Welcome to Issue 23 of Classroom-2-Boardroom- this is a 3-min read, no more no less. 🙅🏾♀️
It’s been a minute here. But we’re back baby! 🚀
I didn’t stop writing. 🙅🏾♀️
I just didn’t hit the send button on two Issues that were ready to send. 😌
Why?
Let’s just say I needed to find a balance between what was going on around me and what was going on in my heart. 😌
As the saying goes, life [bending] is all about energy and balance. ⚖️
By feeling the energy around you, you’ll find balance; by finding balance, you’ll feel the energy. 🧘🏾♂️
That said, today let’s talk about something we don’t talk about enough- ‘credit and kindness’. 😃
Be Kind to Yourself—for your mistakes and missteps.
First, let’s unpack a few things.
Some people prefer to take credit for the good things and avoid talking about the
”not-so-good” things- hoping it’ll all go away.
In other cases, some people embrace the burden of the “not-so-good” things and avoid taking credit for the good things- to avoid appearing boastful. 😃
The end result is a zero-sum game where positive credits (+) negative credits = zero credits. 😖
I’m not here to take sides.
To each their own. 🤷🏾♀️
Whether you wear your mistakes like a heavy coat and dodge any credit for your wins or you shine a spotlight on your wins and sweep your mess-ups under the rug, it all boils down to one thing- responsibility and self-awareness (so two things).
You can’t blame anyone for dancing when the music is playing. 💁🏾♀️
But also, you shouldn’t be worried if the dance continues long after the music is dead.
kk Dulra, we get it. 🙂
So what’s your point?
You see, many people struggle to give themselves credit for all the good things. 🫨
Given the world we live in, it’s easy to underplay your successes and overplay your failures. 🫣
It’s easy to remember your mistakes and forget your brilliance. 🙁
But remember, you only make mistakes because you were trying in the first place and that, my friend, is an act of courage. 🫡
Many people never had the courage to try. 💁🏾♀️
It's easy to fall into the trap of ignoring our contributions to success while disproportionately burdening ourselves with the weight of failures. 🫣
But here’s the twist. 😎
You don't always have to do everything right before giving credit to yourself. 🎯
You don't need a perfect score to start giving yourself some credit. 🤌🏾
You can start by taking credit for the things you did wrong. 💯
It's called taking responsibility for your actions. 👌🏾
Many of us hesitate to acknowledge our achievements, reflecting a deeper reluctance to accept responsibility for our shortcomings. 🥹
Taking credit for the good things emphasizes the things you’re good at ✨ but taking credit for the not-so-good things opens your eyes to opportunities for improvement. 🤔
Again, your choice to avoid taking credit for the good things most times mirrors your choice to avoid taking responsibility for the wrong things. 🙂
Sometimes, the courage to see the upsides in your work could come from the courage to recognize, accept, and celebrate the low sides. 💯
Learn to be good to yourself for the great work you're doing 🥰 and learn to be good to yourself for all the mistakes you've made - and frankly, that you'll make. 🥹
Said another way, be kind to yourself for the killer job you're doing and don't forget to be just as kind for the oopsie moments. 😄
You can earn some accolades for your efforts but also learn some lessons from your missteps.
You deserve recognition for your efforts, but you also deserve the lessons hidden within your missteps. 🙂
They're both opportunities for growth. 🤩
You’re crushing it, my friend. 🙅🏾♀️
The world won’t be the same without you and your awesomeness. ✨
Remember… 💁🏾♀️
Be kind to yourself on the good things. 🥰
Be kind to yourself on the not-so-good things.🤩
One more thing: go be the best version of yourself, yet- we’re yet to experience it!! 🫡
Until next time,
Don’t Forget to be Awesome!
