C2B: Every idea used to be just a thought...but not vice versa
2-Minute Read: Thinking about your thoughts and reflecting on your reflections.
Hi friends ππΎ
Happy Tuesday. Welcome to Issue 2 of Classroom-2-Boardroom.
Every Idea used to be just a thought.
Issue 2: Thinking about your thoughts and reflecting on your reflections.
Today is about something we all have in common- thinking. π₯π«‘
ππΎNot to sound like a broken record, but studies show that the human brain processes roughly 70,000 thoughts every day. ππΎ
Imagine a soccer stadium during a major match filled to the brim. Thatβs you thinking about each person, in one day. π₯π₯
Now, out of those 70,000 thoughts, very very few of them turn into ideas.ππΎ
ππΎYou see, not all thoughts turn into ideas but all ideas used to just be a thought.ππΎ
So my friends, ideas donβt start as βgreat ideasβ but instead as recurring thoughts- the thoughts that keep you awake at nightπΊπΎ, give you that feeling in your stomach π€, and refuse to leave your mind. π πΎββοΈ
But in a world where the destiny of social media rests on the shoulders of your mind, itβs harder than ever before to stay true to your thoughts. π πΎββοΈ
Cause if youβre not thinking for yourself, someone else is likely thinking for you. π―
But how do you create a room for great thoughtsβ by listening actively. π―
ππΎWhen you speak, you say the things you know but when you listen, you learn the things you donβt know, whether youβre listening to your thoughts or othersβ. π―π―
Before now, I disagreed with Steve Jobsβ famous quote because I interpreted his quote as βOnly the ones who are crazy enough to come up with ideasβ¦β
But really, he was just referring to the thinking process, not ideation. π―π
Have you heard the saying βthe best ideas are borne out of experiencesβ?
Thatβs cause youβre more likely to think of things youβve experienced than the ones youβve not. ππΎ
In most cases (not all), your experiences feed your thoughts which then feed your ideas. β¨
Sidebar: Thereβs a reason the book is titled βThink & Grow Richβ.π«‘
Finally, as you go about this journey called life, every now and then, take some time to think about your thoughts and reflect on your reflections.ππ―π―
Warning thoughβ¦this kind of lifestyle requires you to turn down the noise, step away, and at times, pull back from the crowd.
But really, the price is worth the prize. ππΎπ
ππΎRemember, my friend, not all thoughts turn into ideas but all ideas used to just be a thought. π―
Next week, weβll dive into ideas.
Quote of the Week: You guessed right.π πΎββοΈπΊπΎ
Only the ones who are crazy enough to [think] they can change the world are the ones who truly do.
-Steve Jobs.
