Classroom-2-Boardroom: Time. Attention. Energy
4-minute read: 3 Forces of Nature Driving Your Progress & Productivity.
Hi friends 👋🏾
Happy Tuesday✨. Welcome to Issue 6 of Classroom-2-Boardroom. ❤️
Last week, we talked about not doing it alone. The key lesson was “When the going gets tough, the going seeks collaboration, not isolation.”
This week, we’re diving into three key forces of nature—
👉🏾 Time. Attention. Energy 👈🏾
Issue 6: Time. Attention. Energy
👉🏾Time, attention, and energy are like the holy trinity of productivity and progress.
Before we go on, I know you know all about time, attention, and energy. You know all that. You’re a rockstar and that’s why you’re reading this. 🙅🏾♂️
My hope is to shed light on your unknown-knowns—the things you already know but don’t know you know. 👌🏾
That said, lessgooo🚀🚀
Whatever is taking your time is likely taking your attention and also likely taking your energy. 🤒
Think about it for a minute…for real. Pause for 10 seconds.
👉🏾Think about anything you spend a lot of time on. Now think about how much attention and energy you put into that.🤔

When you choose to invest time into something, you’re also (unconsciously) choosing to invest your attention and energy, whether you like it or not. 💁🏾♂️
I know it’s hard. But my friends, that’s just how it is. 🤷🏾♀️
But how do we strike a healthy balance between time, attention, and energy❓
Well, as you know by now, I don’t have all the answers. But here’s what I’ve come to learn, the hard way. 👇🏾✨
On Time: Be relative! 💯
It's the one resource that's truly democratic. Everyone gets the same 24 hours in a day, from the most successful entrepreneurs to students just starting. 🙅🏾♂️
But here’s the catch: there’s a difference between being busy and being productive—I’m sure you know this already. 👌🏾💯
As a student, your schedule is already a complex juggling act of classes, assignments (ughh), and personal life; add your commitment to your ventures as a student founder, and your life becomes a calm and quiet ocean. 😇
Just kidding…you know how it is.
👉🏾 Bottomline: As Einstein famously put it “Time is relative to the entity experiencing it” and I add, whenever you wake up is your morning.
On Attention: Sleep 💯
It can be so tempting to want to pull all-nighters but my friend, have you thought of pulling an all-day(er)❓
It’s that thing where you work during the day and sleep during the night. 🤔
You’ve heard this 10 million times already but one of my biggest lessons is that you can be 2x as productive when you get enough sleep and be 2x less productive when you get less sleep. 🤒
👉🏾 Breaking News: Quality sleep is associated with improved problem-solving skills and creative thinking. ✨
During rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, your brain processes complex information and makes connections between seemingly unrelated ideas. 👌🏾
This can lead to improved problem-solving abilities and enhanced creativity when you're awake.💁🏾♂️
Remember, great work is not the opposite of good health. 💯
On Energy: Be Conservative 💯
Now, I’m not a professional medical fitness expert (even though I ran on the treadmill for 1 hour a few days ago, lol). 🫡
But what I can tell you is that your energy levels will always be in flux 👯♂️- which is why you gotta pay keen attention to your mental, physical, and emotional energy. 🙅🏾♂️
Pick your battles, my friends. Not every gist deserves a gossip. 💯
Be intentional.
Be selective. Not every piece of information deserves your attention. 💯
Embrace the power of No. Not every in-formation requires an out-formation. 💯
Remember, your energy levels dictate your ability to tackle tasks, solve problems, and endure the inevitable setbacks. 🎯👌🏾
Lastly, as you embark on your journey, remember this trifecta.
Be mindful of where you invest your time ✨, how you manage your attention 💁🏾♂️, and the importance of preserving your energy 🤒.
Quote of the week 💯👇🏾
