5-minute read: The YOUniverse needs YOU to be YOUniversal.
Happy Wednesday 👋🏾
Welcome to Issue 12 of Classroom-2-Boardroom. This is a 5-minute read, no more no less. 🙅🏾♀️
This week is about something/someone we don’t often talk about- YOU.
I know some of you are wondering if I made a mistake in the title. No I did not. 💁🏾♀️
YOU are worth talking about. Shall we.
Very often, we have a burning passion to want to change the world. And in fact, there’s nothing wrong with that. 🤷🏾♀️
If you’re reading this, there’s a significant chance that you want more than the status quo.
It might be that you’re not satisfied with the banking system for immigrants (did somebody say Dot?) 😁 or that you’re frustrated with the funding inequality or it could be that you’re pissed by the unemployment rates in the country. 🤨
Whatever it is, something is calling you, bothering you, or pissing you off.
Hence, every day, you wake up ready to shine bright like a diamond. ✨
During the day, you feel unstoppable. 🚀
At night, a million dreams are keeping you awake. 🕺🏾
But as you go about this wonderland trying to be a wunderkind, we often forget the most important wonder- YOU.
This part is what makes or mar everything. Without it, there’s no idea to brainstorm, no solution to build or capital to raise. 🙅🏾♀️
In fact, this part that we often forget does the most yet gets the least attention. 🙂
So what’s the catch?
Know thyself…and accept thyself. 💯
As agents of change, it’s easy to live each day aware of everything around us, but us.
We can be so attentive to everything yet be so oblivious to ourselves. 💁🏾♀️
Self-awareness is underrated. Self-consciousness is overlooked. Self-discovery is undermined.
Open to the world; closed to ourselves. 👀
But my friends, knowledge, they say, is power. 🎯
Ordinarily, you shouldn’t accept what you don’t know. But you should know what you can’t accept. 👌🏾
Knowing yourself is a prerequisite to accepting yourself. The world only accepts those who have accepted themselves. 🤌🏾
If you can't accept yourself enough to believe in yourself, nobody will believe you enough to accept you.
There’s a critical point between knowing yourself and accepting yourself- YOU.
Knowing yourself means multiple things- not limited to understanding your strengths and weaknesses, your passions, your values, and your purpose. 💯🚀
Knowing yourself not only helps you accept yourself in hard times 😁 but also helps you take a step back to think about your thoughts 😃, reflect on your reflections 🤔 , and even doubt your doubts. 🧐
Even then, remember that knowing thyself est continuus. It’s a never ending process. 🙅🏾♀️
There’s so much more to know about ourselves than we currently know. You’ll never stop surprising yourself. 😇
You’re a wunderkind wondering in this wonderous wonderland. You see? Too many wonders.😊
Knowing yourself is a gift to you but also a gift to the world because when you know thyself, then you can go create your own wonders and fully express your uniqueness. 🚀
The world needs more people who know who they are 💯 than those who tell others who they should be. 💁🏾♀️
Bottom line, the world needs YOU, my friend! 🎯💯
Becoming great and having great health are not opposites. 🙅🏾♀️
It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that doing odd things comes at the cost of health.
But in reality, sustainable success is built on sustainable health. 💯
The pursuit of greatness and excellent health are not opposing forces. They can and should coexist. 🤌🏾
Granted, all-nighters sound cool, until they are not lol. But have you thought of being an all-dayer❓
7 hrs of sleep, 15 hrs of work and 2 hrs of fun.
7 hrs of sleep, 13 hrs of work and 4 hrs of fun.
7 hrs of sleep, 12 hrs of work and 5 hrs of fun.
8 hrs of sleep, 10 hrs of work, and 5 hrs of fun
In any of these, we’d have slept for 7-8 hrs, worked either for 70hrs/week, 84hrs/week, 91 hrs/week or 105 hrs/ week. 💯
But remember, these are just ideas. You know thyself better than I know thee (especially after reading this). ✨✨
Following your heart is not the opposisite of taking care of your heart. 💯
"Following your heart" often means pursuing your passions, listening to your inner voice, and embracing what you love. 🎯
But there's another side to this metaphor: taking care of your heart. 🤌🏾
This means prioritizing self-care, emotional well-being, and relationships.
While ambition is essential, so is rest, reflection, and rejuvenation. 👌🏾
You can’t give what you don’t have. We are at our best when our hearts are at its best😁
To go from the classroom to the boardroom, you need both the courage to follow your heart and the wisdom to take care of it. 🎯
Let your heart draw its energy from within, not outside. Life will throw shoes at you, see if you can make Nikes from those shoes. 💯
See what I did there? That was good yeah? lol. ☺️
Lastly, there’s a reason the pilot takes the front seat, not the backseat. You’ll be worried if your pilot was seating at the back of the plane. 🤔
This goes to say that as you offer your plane as a service to the world, remember that without YOU, the pilot, the plane is going nowhere. 🙅🏾♀️
Except it’s a self-driving plane which in that case you probably won’t buy a ticket from the airline. 💁🏾♀️
Okayy, now you get it.
Just go be YOU 💯
Take care of YOU 🎯
And remember there’s no (YOU)niverse without YOU✨✨ #micdrop!
Finally, our quote of the week.👇🏾👇🏾
The YOUniverse needs YOU to be YOUniversal.
Until next time,
Don’t Forget to be Awesome,
